SeedVR2
by ByteDance
Makes a clip sharper without the frames drifting apart.
What it is
A video upscaler with, in its maker's words, "temporal consistency". That phrase is the whole point: upscaling each frame on its own gives you a clip that shimmers, because every frame invents its detail differently.
It is priced per megapixel of video data, so a short clip at a modest size costs very little and a long one at 4K costs what you would expect.
Use it on footage you already have and want to deliver bigger, not to change what is in it.
What it is good at
Temporal consistency is the difference between a sharper clip and a clip that crawls. It is what separates a video upscaler from an image upscaler run frame by frame.
Per megapixel of video data, so the bill follows the size and the length rather than a flat rate that punishes short clips.
A clip in, a bigger clip out. There is no prompt to get wrong and no setting that changes what is in the shot.
Where it struggles
- ByteDance publishes no list of limitations for this model, so none is invented here.
- It makes a clip bigger, it does not change it. For editing what is in the shot, use a video editing model.
- No prompt. Attach the clip and run it.
What we offer here
Straight from the catalogue, so this list never goes stale. The price is the provider’s published rate with our markup on top, and it is on the button before you run anything.
Questions
How is this different from upscaling every frame?
Frame-by-frame upscaling invents detail independently per frame, and the result shimmers. This one keeps the frames consistent with each other.
What does it cost?
Per megapixel of video data, which is width times height times frames. The studio shows the amount before you run it.
Should I upscale before or after editing?
After. Editing re-renders the clip, so anything you gained by upscaling first is spent again, and you pay for the larger frames twice.
