What it is

Eleven v4 reads your text in a natural voice, up to 5,000 characters at a time. You set how steady the voice sounds and how close it stays to its own character. Eleven v4 Turbo does the same faster, at half the price.

Sound Effects v3 makes a sound from a sentence: a door, rain on a roof, a crowd. Up to 30 seconds, and it can loop without a seam, so it works as a bed under a scene.

Dubbing takes a video and returns it in another language, in the voices of the people speaking in it. The mouth does not move with the new words; the voice does.

What it is good at

A voice-over in seconds

Paste your script and get it read back. A sentence of a hundred characters came back in four seconds.

Sound that fits the scene

Describe the sound and how long it lasts. Set it to loop for a background that never stops.

One video, many languages

Pick the language and get the same video back, spoken in it. Fourteen languages to choose from.

Where it struggles

  • A voice is priced per character, so a long script costs more than a short one. The button shows the amount for the text you wrote.
  • Dubbing is priced per started minute: a clip of ten seconds costs a full minute.
  • Dubbing changes the voice, not the lips. For a mouth that matches the new language, use lip sync after it.

How to prompt it

For a voice, write the text exactly as it should be spoken, with punctuation where you want a pause. For a sound effect, name the source, the space and the length: what makes the sound, where it is, and how it ends.

An example that shows what that means

A heavy wooden door creaks open in an empty stone hall, footsteps on the stone floor, the echo fading out slowly over four seconds.
